Grant Campground—elevation 7,800 feet (2377 m)—is located in Grant Village, just off the Grand Loop Road at the south end of Yellowstone Lake. It is one of the larger campgrounds in the park with 430 sites. Group and wheel-chair accessible sites are available. Grant Village is the 2nd largest campground in Yellowstone National park with 430 single-family campsites set among a Lodgepole pine forest on the shores of Yellowstone Lake. It is 22 miles north of the south entrance. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker Grant Village was built in 1984 and named after Ulysses S. Grant, president when Yellowstone became the world's first national park in 1872. If you have a motorhome, take it on a tour of the park so you have a place to rest. Grant Village Campground served as our base for a few days of touring and visiting Yellowstone Park. While it is a approx. 40 minutes from Old Faithful and that immediate area, Grant Village serves as a good point to hit much of the major hikes, falls, and drives from one location.
